The Old Bridge of Mostar: A Symbol of Hope

The Old Bridge of the city of Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina was destroyed in 1993 and with it, the values of peace and understanding that it had embodied. Five years later, UNESCO coordinated a reconstruction project to rebuild the Bridge. The reconstructed Old Bridge is today a symbol of reconciliation and post-conflict healing processes.
